Orange Jalapeño Sunshine Jam

🧾 INGREDIENTS

🍊 Citrus Base

2 cups fresh orange juice (about 4–5 oranges)

Zest of 1 orange

1 tbsp lemon juice

1 tbsp lime juice

🌶️ Heat & Flavor

3 jalapeños, finely minced (remove seeds for mild, keep some seeds for heat)

2 cups granulated sugar

1 tbsp grated fresh ginger (optional but delicious)

🏆 For Setting

1 packet (1.75 oz) powdered pectin OR 3 tbsp liquid pectin


INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Prepare the jalapeños

Wear gloves if you’re sensitive!

Remove seeds for a mild jam or keep a few for more heat.

Finely mince.

  1. Combine citrus + peppers

In a large pot, add:

orange juice

orange zest

lemon juice

lime juice

minced jalapeños

ginger (optional)

Heat on medium until it begins to simmer.

  1. Add the pectin

Sprinkle in powdered pectin while stirring constantly.

Bring mixture to a full rolling boil (one that doesn’t stop when stirred).

  1. Add the sugar

Pour in the 2 cups sugar all at once.

Stir well and return to a full boil.

Boil hard for 1 minute exactly, stirring constantly.

  1. Check the jam

Remove from heat.

Skim off any foam on top (optional, just for appearance).

The jam will look slightly thin but will thicken as it cools.

  1. Jar it

Pour hot jam into clean jars.

Seal with lids.

Let cool at room temperature.

Refrigerate once cooled.
(If canning: process in a boiling water bath for 10 minutes.)


FLAVOR VARIATIONS

🔥 Extra Heat:

Add 1 serrano pepper or keep all jalapeño seeds.

🍊 Extra Citrus:

Add zest of 1 lemon or lime.

🍍 Tropical Twist:

Add ½ cup crushed pineapple or mango.


HOW TO USE IT
