π Twisted Christmas Cookies β Soft, Festive & Perfect for the Holidays!
π Ingredients
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 cup powdered sugar
1 large egg
1 Β½ tsp vanilla extract
Β½ tsp almond extract (optional but amazing!)
2 Β½ cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking powder
ΒΌ tsp salt
Red food coloring
Green food coloring
Optional: sanding sugar for sparkle
π Directions
Cream butter & sugar:
In a bowl, beat butter and powdered sugar until light and fluffy.
Add egg & extracts:
Mix in egg, vanilla, and almond extract.
Add dry ingredients:
Stir in flour, baking powder, and salt until a soft dough forms.
Divide & color:
Split dough into 3 parts:
1 plain
1 red
1 green
Shape the twists:
Roll small ropes of each color and gently twist them together into cookie shapes (sticks or little wreaths).
Bake:
Place on a parchment-lined tray and bake at 350Β°F (175Β°C) for 8β10 minutes, until set but not browned.
Optional sparkle:
Sprinkle with sanding sugar while warm.
