Candy Cane Pizza Breadsticks 🍕🍬🎄

Ingredients

1 can refrigerated pizza dough or crescent dough sheet

1 cup shredded mozzarella (or thin strips of fresh mozzarella)

2–3 slices of pepperoni (optional)

1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

½ tsp garlic powder (optional)

1 tsp dried Italian herbs or oregano (optional)


Instructions

  1. Preheat and prep
  2. Preheat oven to 375°F / 190°C.
  3. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  1. Roll & shape the dough
  2. Roll out the pizza or crescent dough into a rectangular sheet, about ¼ inch thick.
  3. Cut the dough into 4 long strips (lengthwise).
  4. Lay a strip flat, place mozzarella and optional pepperoni along the center.
  5. Fold the edges over the filling slightly, or twist the strip to create a candy cane effect.
  6. Curve one end of each strip slightly to form the top hook of the candy cane.

  1. Egg wash & seasoning
  2. Brush each breadstick lightly with beaten egg for a golden finish.
  3. Sprinkle with garlic powder and Italian herbs if desired.

  2. Bake in preheated oven for 12–15 minutes, or until dough is golden brown and cheese is melted.
  3. Let cool slightly before serving.

Tips & Variations

Sweet twist: Drizzle with marshmallow fluff or white chocolate after baking for a dessert version.

Cheese variety: Try provolone or fontina for different flavors.

Party hack: Double the recipe and bake in a sheet pan for a festive appetizer platter.

Make it colorful: Use red bell pepper strips or tomato slices to enhance the candy cane look.
