Cheese Garlic Potato Pide – Delicious Turkish-Style Bread
Ingredients
For the Dough
1½ tsp active dry yeast
1 tsp sugar
125 ml (½ cup) warm water
250 g (2 cups) all-purpose flour or bread flour
1 tsp salt
1 tsp garlic powder
3 tbsp olive oil or vegetable oil
For the Filling
2 medium potatoes, boiled and mashed
1½ cups mozzarella cheese, shredded
2 tbsp butter, melted
1–2 cloves garlic, minced
Salt & black pepper, to taste
½ tsp paprika or chili flakes (optional)
1 tbsp chopped parsley (optional)
For Topping
Extra mozzarella cheese
1 egg yolk + 1 tbsp milk (for brushing)
Sesame seeds or nigella seeds (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the Dough
In a bowl, mix warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let sit 5–10 minutes until foamy.
Add flour, salt, garlic powder, and oil.
Knead until soft and smooth (about 8–10 minutes).
Cover and let rise for 1 hour, or until doubled in size. - Prepare the Filling
Mix mashed potatoes with butter, garlic, salt, pepper, paprika, and parsley.
Fold in mozzarella cheese. Set aside. - Shape the Pide
Preheat oven to 200°C (390°F).
Divide dough into 2 portions.
Roll each into an oval shape.
Spread potato-cheese filling in the center, leaving edges free.
Fold sides slightly inward and pinch ends to form a boat shape. - Bake
Brush edges with egg wash.
Sprinkle extra mozzarella on top.
Bake for 15–18 minutes, until golden and bubbly. - Serve
Brush with melted butter after baking
Serve warm and enjoy 😍
